2Ki 5:1 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.

The most blessed and humbling ministry God has allowed me to be a part of is teaching children. They are our future for our families, churches, and our nation. They need a right understanding of Who God is and who we are.

The people in the world today have such a high opinion of themselves and a low view of God.  This is evident by the selfie pictures, time spent on themselves, and time not spent with God. They have great belief in their beauty, talents, abilities, and strength—but a low view of what God says about each of us.

In the Bible Naaman is a great illustration and example of God’s truth about all mankind.

Leprosy was a deadly disease that was greatly feared, and rightfully so. Once you were diagnosed with it, you were ostracized from your family and friends. You were awaiting a slow, painful death. Only a miracle from God could save you. It had no respect of person or their status.

Here we see that Naaman has been given a notable introduction.

  • He was the captain of the Syrian hosts.

  • He was a great man to his master.

  • He was honorable, as God used him in the deliverance of his country.

  • He was a mighty man of valour.

BUT.

He was a leper. None of those accolades mattered now. He was a walking dead man.

So it is with mankind. Every great, mighty, valuable adjective that can be used upon a person means nothing to God. We may be a good person, a person of means, honourable, and even moral! BUT. We are a sinner. A walking dead man spiritually. No hope, except for the miracle and grace of salvation that God freely offers to every individual.

Naaman finally obeyed the word of the prophet and was cleansed of his leprosy. We must obey the Word of God and trust in the blood of Jesus to cleanse us from our sin.

Eph 1:6-7 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.
