Isa 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
A 40 year student and teacher of God’s Word said, “Young men, there are many mysteries in this life I do not pretend to understand, many things hard to explain. But I can tell you today with the fullest assurance that Jesus Loves Me, This I Know For the Bible tells me so.”
The Bible IS The Word Of God. It Contains: The mind of God, The state of man, The way of salvation, The doom of sinners, and The happiness of believers. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, practice it to be holy.
Written by Moses and covering 2,000 years of history, it tells the beginning of everything but God. Almost every subject of importance has its roots there, and it sets the stage for the mighty drama of redemption that finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ.
Genesis begins with the story of Creation and ends with a Coffin (50:26). It is to the Christian what a foundation is to a house. It forms the basis for all the Revelation of the Bible.
It tells the story of how God created the heavens and earth, and honestly reveals how man messed everything up.
It is a record of firsts, facts, faith, forecasts and funerals. It records the actions and activities of great men and women of faith. Genesis records man’s sin and ruin and God’s remedy through the seed of the woman—the virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There are four great events given in chapters 1–11, as follows:
1. The Creation – 1:1-2:25
2. The Fall or Sin of Man – Adam and Eve – 3:1-5:32
3. The Flood – 6:1-9:29
4. The Nations – 10:1-11:9
As the Book of Beginnings, if we begin with God, all things are possible. Without Him, we can do nothing. (John 15:5)
Here is an interesting study by looking at seven great men:
1. Abel The Worshiper Gen. 4:1-4
2. Enoch The Walker Gen. 5:18-24
3. Noah The Worker Gen. 6:1-9:19
4. Abraham The Wanderer Gen. 11:10-35:8
5. Isaac The Watcher Gen. 25:19-26:36
6. Jacob The Wrestler Gen. 27:1-36:43
7. Joseph The Waiter Gen. 37:1-50:26
Consider – When a judge in Greensboro, North Carolina, administered the oath of citizenship to 50 persons, he said, “If you will keep the Ten Commandments, you will not have to worry about obeying the Laws of America.”
