Mind Of A Servant

1Pe 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
Living in a world of comfort and convenience with any information we want being an app-download away, it is amazing how crazy and complicated our life can be. One would assume with all the conveniences we have, life would be more enjoyable.
However, this is so often not the case. When we search Scripture, we can see that true joy and happiness come from a surrendered life through serving our Lord and Saviour.
In the book of Philippians, we see that Jesus had the heart and mind of servant (Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:) and we are commanded to have that same mind (Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:)
All too often, Christians today look at the word “service” as “serve us.” This perspective undoubtedly leads to a heart of selfishness, greed, discontentment, etc.
As followers of Christ, we should follow in His steps (I Peter 2:21) with a heart of service, not with open hands waiting to be served. In our churches, we should look for what we can give rather than for what we can get, or we should look for how we can help the pastor and leaders in feeding the flock rather than waiting to be fed.
The world is an open mission field with fields white unto harvest. Let’s pray that God will send forth laborers for His harvest and that God will use us according to His will.
Our prayer should be that God will use us for His “service” rather than sitting around waiting for others to “serve us.”
Consider – The first qualification of a servant is humility of heart and mind.
