Stretched-Out Arms

Ex 6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:

The dictionary defines the word STRETCH as, “to draw out to greater length.”

When we study God’s Word, we see this truth as shown in our text verse. The children of Israel were in bondage and needed to be set free. God, in His infinite mercy, said that He would redeem them with a stretched out arm.

While this refers to a physical salvation, the same deliverance happened to us spiritually. We were dead in our trespasses and sins, and we needed to be redeemed. In God’s loving mercy, He stretched out His arms on the cross of Calvary, died for our sins, and rose again three days later. He desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Pr 1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

God calls, but unfortunately many do not regard. Just like the Tower of Babel, men try to reach heaven on their own rather than by yielding to His stretched out arm.

Ge 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

God has stretched out His arms to us and given us salvation. Because of this love, He has given us the ministry of reconciliation, referred to in II Corinthians chapter 5. Therefore, we must stretch forth our arms to a lost and dying world and share the gospel to a needy world.

Ro 10:21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

Consider – We can never reach Heaven on our own, only through receiving His love that He displayed through stretched-out arms.
