1Co 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
As we begin a new year, we have new opportunities. God has graciously allowed us this time on earth to serve Him and bring Him glory as His stewards here on earth.
As faithful stewards, we need to use time wisely. Ephesians 5:16 says “redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Reading God’s Word and spending time in prayer daily are valuable uses of our time.
Also as faithful stewards, we need to wisely use the talents and treasures He has to given us. Matthew 25 tells of the parable of the talents. In verses fifteen and sixteen, we read, “And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.”
What are we doing to increase our gifts, abilities, and finances? Ecclesiastes 5:19 reminds us “Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.”
Another way that we can be faithful stewards is in taking care of our bodies which is His temple. 1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Good stewards are faithful. Pr 28:20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
Day by day we make small decisions that determine our future path. These daily decisions take time and effort, but God is pleased through faithfulness.
May we be faithful stewards so that our Master can say as the master did in the parable in Matthew.
Mt 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
