Re 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

As the New Year approaches, it is the perfect time to commit to Bible reading. God‘s Word is the foundation upon which we stand, and it is of upmost importance that we give attendance to reading.

1Ti 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

The literal words of God spoke the world into existence, and we know this event is true because of His written Word. The words of our Saviour calmed the mighty storm resulting in peace.

Our hope of eternal life rests on the truths of God’s Word.

Joh 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

In Genesis chapter 3, the first thing the devil said in Scripture was “yea hath God said?” He immediately began to attack God’s Word by casting doubt on what God had said. Bible-believing Christians across the world have God‘s words in their hand yet don’t take adequate time to open it and to read it.

The inspired Word of God has been preserved to every generation. The devil cannot destroy God‘s Word so his attempt is to keep people from reading it.

If we truly believe that the Bible is true, and if we truly rest our eternity upon the Word of God, and if we truly desire to live for our Saviour—then it is reasonable and essential to open His book and read His written word.

Consider – May this next year be a time in which we grow closer to our Creator through reading His written Word. For the time is at hand.
