Pr 11:23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
This verse tells us that the saved should desire to be a help and a blessing to those around them. This does not mean that their efforts will always be successful or appreciated. As a child of God we are to obey Him, follow Him, and be a blessing to others. Why? Because of what God has done for us. He loved us when we were unlovable.
Jesus said, “To whom much is given, of him much is required.” Luke 12:48
(The examples listed below came from an email I received)
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered. Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfishness or ulterior motives. Do good anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway.
The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds. Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for underdogs anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them. Help people anyway
Consider – By showing love and kindness to the unlovable, it may tenderize their hearts to the gospel.
