2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2Ti 3:13-14a But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of….
When Jesus arrived at the Gergesenes, the Scriptures records that two men possessed with devils met Him, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce. The words exceeding fierce and perilous in today’s Scripture are both translated from the same Greek word.
Personally, I believe that we are living in days increasing in fierceness as God allows the dark activities similar to Noah’s day to occur. Timothy gives us a short list of the evil that we are observing in America, let alone the entire world.
I think you will agree with me that since 2019, we have witnessed increasingly more spiritual darkness overall—a spiritual battle being waged and increasing. As believers, we know distinctly that before Christ comes for His own, matters world-wide are going to deteriorate. Men will not seek after the true God, but instead, will become infatuated with a false god, choosing to believe a lie.
When it was revealed to Brother Daniel concerning what was going to come upon Israel and the world in the last days, it left him fasting and mourning for almost a month! (End-time prophecies are not given for our information but for our sanctification.)
The question is asked, “How are we supposed to conduct ourselves while we await our Lord’s return in these increasingly fierce times, when evil men and seducers are waxing worse and worse?”
Head for the hills to hide out? Request for death as Elijah did when he was depressed about death threats against his life? Build a bunker? Of course not. Paul says we are to expect persecution for godly living.
What we must do is continue. Continue living godly and hating this world’s anti-Christ system (Ps 97:1). Continue growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Continue seeking those things which are real and everlasting—the things which are above (Col. 3:1-3). Continue giving out the Good News that Jesus saves! Times are becoming more perilous, but continue in the matters that matter most.
Consider – Now is not the time to become wobbly, but a time to remain steadfast in the faith.
