Thoughts About God’s Word

Mt 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Today, people are trying to destroy or ignore the truths from the Bible, like they were in Jesus’ day. God’s Word is being ridiculed and demeaned. Many arguments, or excuses, are made for rejecting the Bible.
“Only the weak believe it.” A young man who was on his fifth marriage made this argument. Considering that we are all weak, count me in. Ps 6:2 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak…. 1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen...the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
“It is filled with errors and contradictions.” People often say that, but most cannot give an example. Most haven’t even read or studied the Bible. Honest study reveals that it is completely accurate and reliable.
“It’s too hard to understand.” Actually, it is quite impossible to do so, without the aid of the Holy Spirit. 1 Cor 2:14 tells us that the things of the Spirit are “spiritually discerned.” Changing translations doesn’t help either. The Holy Spirit has been helping people understand the KJB for a long time.
Of the myriad of excuses people make for ignoring God’s Word, the basic truth is, they simply do not want to hear it. Their hearts are already set to disobey God. Jesus confronted the leaders of His day because they had become bull-headed to the very Truth right in front of them.
How are you handling the Word of God? Are you believing every Word, even though you may not initially understand it all? Are you asking and allowing the Holy Spirit to help you understand it?
Is it so precious to you that you are burdened to share it with others?
As God’s Word was being read, Jeremiah 36:23 tells us that King Jehoiakim cut it into pieces with a penknife, and then cast it into the fireplace. I suppose he thought that was the end of it, but God simply reproduced it through His prophet. Man, nor environment, nor devil can do away with God’s Eternal Word. We are held accountable to it.
May the Lord help us to not let the Truths within the pages of the Bible fall upon dull hears.
