2Ki 5:2-3 And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife. 3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.

The Power of Words and Godly Council

One of my favorite ladies mentioned in God’s Word is in II Kings 5. This lady was perhaps very young, away from her family and friends, and in completely strange surroundings. Yet, she was grounded in her faith in the Lord.

What impact could a little servant girl have?

Suddenly, a serious situation arose. Who could help this mighty captain with his dreaded diagnosis? An insignificant girl knew a mighty God. Her testimony was such that her advice was taken seriously.

Proverbs 25:11 comes to mind which says, A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

In just the perfect time, she gave godly advice. She demonstrated what Proverbs 31:26 teaches about a godly lady – She openeth her mouth with wisdom; And in her tongue is the law of kindness.

This girl was ready to assist and was not afraid to point her powerful master to the One who has all-power. Because of her words, she was able to help her master find healing. What an amazing testimony this girl had!

Perhaps, your words could help someone find healing today. Someone who needs comfort; someone who needs help; someone who needs direction. You could help point them to our all-sufficient Saviour. You never know how far-reaching your words can be.

Thought: If she had nursed revenge, instead of love and grace, she would not have been a true witness of the Christ-like forgiving spirit.

Did You Know? Rubber bands last longer when refrigerated.
