Ge 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
The Bible has much to say about generations. In Genesis, Noah is described as “perfect in his generations.” Genesis 7:1 also says, “And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.”
Noah’s testimony in his generation allowed him to be used by God. What kind of reputation do we have among the generation we live in?
Psalm 106:30-31 recounts the story of Phinehas’s determination to do right. “Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: And so the plague was stayed. And that was counted unto him for righteousness Unto all generations for evermore.” (Psalm 106:30-31)
This man had the courage to stand for righteousness in his generation and because he did so, his actions affected all generations.
Standing for truth and righteousness is challenging. However, the effort is worth it. Our generation and the generations to come depend upon our leadership.
As we live and make decisions, let us do so with the coming generation in mind. Are we acting upon principles? Are we laying foundational blocks for our children and grandchildren to build on? What precedents are we setting?
My prayer for my daughter and grandchildren is that the decision for them to receive Jesus as their Saviour will be easy because everything in my life helps point them to the Lord and guides them to His truth.
Ps 78:4-6 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. 5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: 6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
Let us be the ladies, wives, and mothers that God can use to point our generation and generations to come to the truth.
Ps 102:18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.
Consider—Where reason cannot wade, faith can swim.
