Redeemed How I Love To Proclaim It

Redemption means “to purchase or buy back something that originally belonged to the person buying it back.”  In salvation, it refers to the price Jesus paid through His death and shed Blood.

Redemption is the foundation of salvation. Before God could provide eternal salvation to anyone, He had to pay the ransom required to release the sinner from his sins.  In the righteous order of God’s nature, He could not simply overlook sin and decree salvation to man.  He had to buy it.

Man needs redemption because Adam ate from the forbidden fruit, and thus, he sold himself and his posterity to sin.  It seems that he chose to die with Eve than to live with God, since he was not deceived about what he was doing. (1 Tim 2:14) The sinful nature that he got when he ate is passed on to every member of mankind.  Thus, every person ever born is hopelessly bound to sin and in need of redemption.  If a person is not redeemed by the Lord Jesus, he will die in his sins and spend eternity in Hell, where he is never able to pay his way out.

God knew of man’s rebellion prior to Creation because Jesus was the Lamb of God, slain before the foundation of the world.  Re 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Thus, the Lord God devised the redemption plan to buy man back from his iniquity. Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

The eternal Son of God came to this earth to give His life as the ransom price.  Jesus did not come merely to heal and do miracles.  These were done to prove that He was indeed God incarnate in the flesh.  His sole purpose in coming was to die a redemptive death for mankind.

God went to great lengths to redeem us.  The Bible says that He did this while we were yet sinners and enemies. (Rom 5:8-10) This shows the extent of the love and compassion that He has for us.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Giver and the Gift, the Offerer and the Offering, the Redeemer and the Redemption.  Only through Him can we be free from sin and death.  He is the only provision possible for our redemption.

Consider – Does anyone benefit from YOUR salvation?
