Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

My husband and I have recently entered a season of life that has been both difficult and blessed. As we have learned to navigate these unfamiliar waters, we have encountered predators “seeking to destroy” us.

I have equated these encounters to those that Daniel and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego faced while also in unfamiliar circumstances.

I have read these faithful men’s historical accounts in the Bible many times, but these days, they read a bit differently.  For instance, when the 3 Hebrew boys decided not to bow and face the consequences, they did not know if God would rescue them at all.  We have the whole story, but they did not.

Additionally, they did not know that the One Who is “like the Son of God” would be in the flames with them. (Daniel 3:25—He became visible.)  They simply knew they could not worship the image because it wasn’t God, and His servants couldn’t worship anyone or anything else.

With Daniel and the account of the Lion’s Den, he also had no guarantee that the great lions would not devour him. He only knew that he could not obey. Daniel’s testimony the next morning was that God had shut the lions mouths. The picture is that he, and the lions, had a peaceful night’s rest. Da 6:22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me….

Remember, dear believer, these promises of God are yours as well if you have placed your trust in the Most High God, the tamer of flames and lions.

Consider—Faith is born in light but often developed in darkness.
