The Law Of Kindness
For Women By Women

Pr 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

The Proverbs 31 woman, the ideal Biblical woman, after whom we ladies should pattern ourselves, had many wonderful characteristics.  Many of her qualities are shown through the deeds she does.  But kindness is also shown through the words she speaks.  A woman of true wisdom speaks with kindness.

When you open your mouth to speak, does kindness spill out?  Or are there sharp, bitter words said in a hateful manner?  The old saying goes, ”You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.”

You can start your journey of kindness right where you live.  Depending on your household makeup, did you speak kind and loving words today to your spouse, your children, your parents, your siblings?  Broadening your sphere, did you speak kindly to your neighbors, your workmates or schoolmates?  What about the stores where you do business or run errands  – grocery, post office, hardware store, clothing store?  Were you kind to those who took care of your needs?  At the restaurant where you dined, were you forgiving of little problems and kind to your server?

Our Christian testimony hinges on our kindness.  We can ruin our testimony with anger, sarcasm, ridicule, insults, disrespect, and derogatory remarks.  How much easier it is to be kind and uplift a person instead of tearing them down.

Ladies especially seem to be prone to gossip.  The legal term for gossip is “the act of spreading rumors or discussing personal and private matters about individuals without their consent.”  Typically, it involves details that are not confirmed as being true, and usually it is not kind.

We hear much today about doing “random acts of kindness.”  Why don’t we instead purpose to do “intentional acts of kindness.”  It can have a ripple effect on those around us, inspiring them to show kindness to others.

Practicing intentional kindness means we may have to move outside of our comfort zone.  When we put others before ourselves it can be a challenge.  If we pray for God’s help, and choose kindness, more of His love flows through us.  As we intentionally spread kindness, it will bring glory to God and reflect His love to a world in need.

Think about a time when someone showed intentional kindness to you?  How did it make you feel? How did it affect your day or even your life?

Make kindness your goal in 2025.

Consider:  Eph 4:32 "…be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
