Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
1. A faith that will believe without encouragement from others.
1Sa 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
God wants you to realize that when there is no one else to turn to, there is still encouragement available in the Lord. David knew this from experience, for many times while alone tending sheep, he had turned to His Shepherd.
2. A faith that will believe without encouragement from God.
Mt 15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
The first time this woman petitioned Jesus, she was met with silence (v.23). Her second approach was a seeming rejection (v.24). After she worshipped Him, the response from Jesus was still not real encouraging (v.26). But her great faith became apparent when she simply asked for crumbs from the Lord. She was convinced that just crumbs from the Lord was sufficient to heal her daughter of the devil that vexed her. Her “great faith” pleased Him.
3. A faith that will believe without previous experience.
Ro 4:18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Neither Abraham nor Noah had experienced what they believed God could and would do.
4. A faith that will believe without hurrying to prove.
Joh 4:50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
This man did not seem to be in a hurry to get home. He didn’t need to rush home to prove that Jesus healed his son. He simply believed it.
Consider: The Bible does not say that without faith it is DIFFICULT to please God, but it says that it is IMPOSSIBLE.
