Brothers by The Blood, The Book and The Battle

2Sa 23:8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

One of the gifts that accompany your salvation is the gift of brotherhood we find only in the family of God. I am the brother of some because of the Blood of Christ, others by the Book Christ has given to us, but the closest brothers that I have in Christ are those who I have gone through the battle with as we faced the enemies of Christ together.

I just missed the last draft for the Vietnam War and have never been in a fox hole with a comrade being shot at by the enemy, but I have fought some battles for the souls of men with men who have stood with me in the fight. These are men who are my brothers of the Book, the Blood, and the Battle. We forever will have each other’s backs!

In the list of David’s mighty men we find Eleazer who fought on after, “the men of Israel were gone away,” until “his hand clave unto the sword.”  He could not lay down his sword. In the battle with Satan, you cannot let go of the Word of God.

Another of his mighty men was Shammah who stood in the middle of a bean field and defended that piece of ground from the enemy. Make sure the Lord is with you in the battle, then find some good ground and fight for it. Some ground is not worth the battle but fight for the good ground!

Benaiah was another mighty man of David who was known for many exploits of bravery. The Bible says that he was the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel. He had a heritage of men who were warriors.

Stay true to God’s Word, find some good ground to defend, and don’t forget your spiritual heritage. Many have gone before you in the faith and have poured themselves into you. Remember, you don’t have to fight the battle alone, you have brothers who are in the trenches with you. We have your back.

Eph 6:13-14 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, AND HAVING DONE ALL, TO STAND. 14 STAND THEREFORE….

Consider – Through the Lord Jesus, the hostile powers of evil which Christians encounter are already vanquished powers.

Smiley –  Never trust an electrician with no eye brows.
