Life Is But A Weaving

Ro 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.
    Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
    And I in foolish pride
    Forget He sees the upper
    And I the underside.
Not ‘til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.
    The dark threads are as needful
    In the weaver’s skillful hand
    As the threads of gold and silver
    In the pattern He has planned.
He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him

His name is Samuel. I met him at a meeting in Oklahoma. He is an American Indian, and he was sitting outside the church reading his Bible, waiting for the church doors to open. I could tell he most likely was homeless, and the pastor confirmed this to me later. He often would show up to the church and sit in the back, seldom speaking to anyone. Occasionally, he would join in for a meal. He asked me that day if he could fill his water bottle.

During the service, a song was sung that rent my heart. There were several verses, but the phrase that stood out to me was this; “All along Your hand has been guiding me, shaping my life to be a beautiful song…”

I began quietly weeping as I thought how these words affected this Christian brother who was homeless. How could he say his life had been shaped into a beautiful song? I began asking God this very question and almost immediately God quietly spoke to my heart, reminding me that no matter what life brings each of us—our disappointments, our grief, our financial ruins, our heartbreaks, whatever—if you know Jesus as your Saviour, you have everything.

The things of this world are corruptible, but our eternal home with Him is eternal! He promises never to leave us nor forsake us and has told us, 2Co 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

Consider: No matter your circumstance, rejoice in our great God, Who has a beautiful plan for your life and mine, that He sees perfectly, the end from the beginning.

Smiley: What did the toy store sign say? Don’t feed the animals. They are already stuffed.
