1Ki 8:56 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.
After Moses died, Joshua and the children of Israel faced what normally would have been a severe crisis. The nation had just lost its greatest leader. What would the Israelites do? Would they die in the wilderness?
Of course not!! Even though Moses had died; God was not dead.
Notice what God said to Joshua after the death of Moses:
- Jos 1:2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
Then God gave these words of assurance to Joshua:
- Jos 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
That same God Who keeps promises, lives today. Although troubling times arise, current leadership in our country has failed in many ways, precious loved ones die and once again our young people are dying on the battlefield.
Do not despair – God is not dead. Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 6:16:
- 2Co 6:16 … for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
God’s program, purpose, promise and protection will continue.
CONSIDER: When you are discouraged and looking down, it’s time to look up, for “your redemption draweth nigh.”
