Ps 78:9 The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
Have you known someone that didn’t live up to their family name? Maybe they squandered their opportunity, or they didn’t do what was expected of them. We see this from the tribe of Ephraim.
The ancestry line of Ephraim was Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and then Ephraim. The tribe of Ephraim was blessed with an inheritance in the middle of Israel. They had much privilege and every opportunity to do right. The tribe grew to such great influence that at times the name is a synonym for the entire country of Israel.
Read verses surrounding Ps. 78:9, and you will read about the marvelous things they saw the Lord do.
They had much privilege in knowing the Lord and seeing Him work. They were armed and carrying bows. They had what they needed to do battle.
Sadly, they turned back in the day of battle.
You have what you need to live for the Lord in these perilous times. If you are saved, He indwells you in the Person of the Holy Spirit, and He has given you what you need to stand true for Him in these perilous times.
We have a Bible. We have a church to hear the faithful preaching of His Word.
Why should we turn back in the day of battle?
Stand strong! Stay true! Be faithful!
1Co 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
CONSIDER: To not actively use the armor of God, opens the door to sure defeat.
SMILE: Be alert! The world needs more lerts.
