CONSIDER THE RAVENS
Luke 12:24 – “Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?”
God’s gracious care for the birds expresses a truth often found in the Bible and wonderfully observed in nature. If reminds the believer of the Heavenly Father’s concern for him and brings comfort to this life.
In Hamilton, Ontario, some workers came to a large tree that had to be removed. As they were about to cut it down, they spied a nest in the branches containing four tiny eggs. The kindly foreman told the crew to begin at the other end of the street, thus allowing the tree to stand until the job was almost completed. A few weeks later when the workmen returned one of them looked into the nest and found that the little birds were gone! Carefully removing the small thatched “home” he took it apart to see how it had been constructed. Much to his surprise he found a few small pieces of a Sunday school card on which was a picture of a sparrow. Underneath were the words, “I will trust and not be afraid” (Isa. 12:2). Truly God had protected the mother bird and her family in a wonderful way.
Sometimes you may question if God is really caring for you. When such thoughts come to your mind, consider Psalm 147:9, “He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry” and remember our Savior’s statement in Matthew 6:26, “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” Jesus makes it very clear that not one little sparrow is ever forgotten, and for our comfort He adds, “Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows” (Luke 12:7).
The next time you begin to worry, think of God’s care for the birds and how much more He loves you!
Wit and Wisdom – A Providence that PROVIDES for SPARROWS will certainly PROTECT the SAINTS!
Point to Ponder - I am not evil. Just divinely challenged.
