2 Corinthians 4:16 – “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”

Quite often we hear someone say, “If we could only know what the future holds, how much it would help!”  Perhaps all of us on occasion have expressed the desire to see beyond today.  But it is actually for the benefit of His children that our loving and gracious Heavenly Father does not allow us to see beyond the present.  Too much foresight, rather than being advantageous, can really be detrimental.

This truth is very strikingly and emphatically illustrated in an article which appeared in the Sunshine Magazine.  The writer states, “It is easier to ride a bicycle uphill at night than during the daylight.  After dark the cyclist can see only a few feet in front of him, and his headlight gives the illusion that the road is almost level.  In this way he feels he can go on a few feet more-and soon he is up and over the hill.  In daylight the entire hill is revealed and seems so steep that his courage fails.”

The author then concludes, “Whenever a great task is visualized as a whole, it appears almost beyond accomplishment.  Yet, when broken into small segments, each step can be taken in stride.”

There’s a real lesson in this for every born-again child of God.  If we trust the Lord for the future and depend upon Him as we meet our present responsibilities, we can draw from His limitless supply of wisdom and strength.  By living one day at a time we can avoid discouragement, and experience steady progress and rejoice in the realization of His faithfulness as we are renewed by God’s sustaining grace!

Wit and Wisdom – One of the kindest things God ever did was to put a curtain over Tomorrow!

Point to Ponder – Famous last words:
“Come on we can beat that train”
“Don’t worry, I’ve done this plenty of times before.”
“Of course I know what I am doing.”
