Heb 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Heb 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. James 5:8

You find yourself franticly searching your closet for that favorite article of clothing that you enjoying wearing all to no avail. “Where is it?” you say to yourself. You race to the laundry room, and there it is—in the clothes basket! “Great, just great!” you protest, “I’ve got to wear this tonight, and I’ve only an hour and a half before I have to be there.”

You search it over to see if you can simply iron it to make it presentable (guys).  But no, it has to be washed. Quickly you toss it with a few other things into the washer, add soap, and close the lid—and wait.

There is something about washing machines we all know; it has to go through its cycles, and cannot be rushed. Finally, the washer finishes, you grab your garment out and toss it into the dryer—to wait again!

God promised Abraham a son.  And, he waited. God’s will in preparing Abraham for the promised son had to go through God’s cycle. If you’re familiar with Abraham’s story, you know Abraham couldn’t wait, so he listened to his wife.

Finally, when Abraham patiently endured in trusting God’s Word, he obtained the promise. I can just hear Sarah exclaim one morning, “Abraham, I don’t feel so well today—wait! Could it be possible that I’m expecting!?!”

God’s pace is much like your washing machine. Sometimes, the cycles seem to take forever to complete.

To be patient in regards to the coming of the Lord is simply to be faithful trusting the Word of the Lord during the waiting period. The temptation to not be patient or faithful is often great when our Lord does not appear.  Still, brethren, let’s be patiently faithful in our walk of faith, for the return of the Lord draweth nigh.

How do we know this? Because it is impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18). May we be of those who are patiently enduring in faithfulness until our Lord appears to catch us away.

Consider – Look up! Heb 10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
