Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem

Ps 122:6-8 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. 7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. 8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

When I came across this passage in Psalms, I could not help but to think of all the trouble going on in the Middle East between Iran and Israel, and it made me think of those in Jerusalem, who are under attack from another in their long line of enemies who have sought to destroy them.

The list is long.  It started in the book of Genesis when God promised a Saviour, Who would come from the woman and be The One Who would wound the head of the serpent, Satan.  Eve thought Cain was the one, but he was not The One.

In Genesis chapter 22, God promised Abraham, the father of the Jewish nation, that The One would come from his lineage.  Since then, Satan raised up enemies of Israel, but he could not stop God’s Son being born as The One in Bethlehem.

Satan, since the day Christ paid the debt of mankind on the Cross, has tried to take out his vengeance on Israel, blinding them to Jesus being the God-Man and bringing many enemies against them to destroy the Jewish people.  Iran is just the last in the long line of enemies Satan has filled with anger and rage, hoping they would finally get the job done.

I am concerned that in our country today, protesters chant, “From the river to the sea, Palestine must be free.”  I can say from Scripture, “From river to river, God will deliver.”

America has always been a friend to Israel, and my prayer today is that we will stand with God’s chosen people and continue to see God’s blessings on our land.  I fear the day if we ever fail to support the nation of Israel and cause the hand of God to be lifted from our land.

But through all the fear and uncertainty about Israel’s future, I know God will never allow them to be destroyed.  Because I have confidence in my Lord that he will protect them and that no weapon formed against them will prosper.

And I know that soon, very soon, My Lord will return to take us home and finally the nation will see Him as He is, The One, coming again to make all things right.

Consider – It is better to divide in the Truth than to unite in error.
