[Lighthouse Daily Devotion] The Heart of Children’s Ministry

The Heart of Children’s Ministry

Ps 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Summer is here and churches are having Vacation Bible Schools all across the country. Many children who may not come to a regular church service will attend VBS and hear the gospel for the first time. These opportunities are ever so important as we serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our text verse describes children as an heritage of the Lord. It is heartbreaking to see so much wickedness in the world that children today have to encounter. David wrote in Psalm 22:10,  I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.

There is something special about children, and the Bible has a lot to say about them. I am thankful that I was saved as a child and grew up in a Christian home.  Unfortunately, that is not the case with the majority today.  We must be active in working to reach the next generation. We must pray for the VBS, teen camps, and children’s outreach this summer—that God will work in their hearts to result in a harvest of souls.

For those in ministries, I pray you are encouraged as you teach, drive vehicles to bring them in, serve in various places, or support through praying and giving. Thank you for your service to the Lord!

Children are an heritage of the Lord, and what a blessing to serve the Lord in a manner that is so dear to His heart.

Mt 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Consider – A man can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the apples in a seed.
