A Done Deal

Col 2:9-10 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
This is a solid declaration of the full Deity of Jesus. He’s not a halfway God, and He is no way inferior to Father Jehovah. There is no room in the Trinity for a junior god. The reference to the body of the Lord Jesus refutes any idea that He was in some strange, mystical form while on earth. He was fully Man in body, and He was fully God—the God-Man. All that God is dwells in Jesus.
Later, Gnostic heresies made a separation between the spiritual and the material. The Docetism heresy also claimed that Jesus had no actual human body, but that He only seemed to have one. Some tried to separate “Jesus the man” distinct from “the Spirit of Christ.”
Paul didn’t hesitate to proclaim the fully Deity of the Man, Christ Jesus the Lord!
Then, God gave us the amazing statement that we are complete in Him. This is not a status that we have to gain, but it is a positional truth to be enjoyed. This can only be true because Jesus is God. And it is a done deal!
It doesn’t mean that spiritual maturity is instant, nor does it mean that all trouble and trial will cease in this life. But it does mean that in Jesus, we have all the resources available to grow up spiritually. And it means that our standing in Christ will become full reality at His coming.
There is also a strong reference to spiritual power and authority. Jesus is the Head of all spirit beings, and since we are complete in Him, we also enjoy a position of power as well. By the grace of God!
Often we limit Roman 10:17, which says that faith comes by the hearing of the Word of God, only to the salvation moment. But it is a powerful principle that should be an operating power and authority throughout our lives.
Peter encourages us with these words: 2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Consider – There is no opposite of God. Wait on Him, and He will defeat all your enemies.
