Keeping The End In View

Heb 10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

The outcome is certain. In a little while, the waiting will be over.  Jesus will come and will not tarry.

The word “little” is the Greek micron, which refers to a very small thing. It is used today for a millionth part of a meter. Micron is modified by a repetition of oson (micron oson oson) which means “so very, so much as.”  Thus it is,  “a little while, how very, how very” (Lenski).

So the imminent return of Jesus is a comfort to us. It is something that should be on our minds every day—keeping the end in view.  And in this context, Scripture is telling us to remain stedfast because our trials will soon be over. In just a little while.

The end of this age is near. The spirit of deceit is hard at work. The open resistance to the truth of God’s Word is shocking. Every day there is more open rebellion manifesting itself in various places, including the USA.  We know when the world peace movements finally succeed, then sudden destruction will come upon them.

  • 1Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

So the outcome is certain, and those who belong to Jesus will be with Him forever (1 Thess 4:17). And the great enemy of God and His children will face his eternal defeat.

By implication, the Hebrews 10 context, as well as, other passages that teach us to take comfort in the coming of Jesus, teaches the pre-tribulational Rapture. The classic passage in 1 Thess 4 is a good example.  When God says,  1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words—it would not be very encouraging if it meant we had to go through the Tribulation first.

There is no passage that says, “Be patient and comforted in your present troubles because soon things will be worse than the world has ever seen. And you’ll be under the heel of the Antichrist.”  Pretty ridiculous!

So whatever you are facing in your life today and tomorrow, keep the good end in view!

Consider – Life has many opportunities to keep your mouth shut. Take advantage of them.
