The Light

Ge 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Joh 1:4-5 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Before God spoke light, as we know it, into existence, the earth was a dark, dark place. And before Jesus was born, the world was a dark place—with dreary, lonely, and desolate lives.
After the prophetic voices of the Old Testament ceased, four centuries passed without a Prophet in Israel. No one came to deliver Israel from the iron hand of Rome. Hope diminished. Darkness descended. And many forsook the ways of God.
Then one day, life began to change. Circumstances began to change. The forerunner of Christ was born, and the moment Israel had waited for was suddenly upon them. The Roman Empire became part of the miracle, as it taxed its citizens, sending Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem to fulfill the Prophet’s word. The hour the world had waited for had come. And the Light was born in the midst of the darkness.
The Light, Who is also the Life, is in the world to this day. The Light dispels the darkness in every trusting heart and grants life eternal. Believers do not dwell in the darkness. We have been delivered from it.
Scripture teaches us of the Divine Presence of One Who is in us, and He is greater than he who is in the world. 1Jo 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Jesus said He would draw men to Himself – Joh 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
The Light is yet drawing men to Himself. Out of dark tombs into joyful treasures. Out of death into life. Out of ignorance into understanding. Out of error into truth. Out of darkness into light.
The Light of Jesus is shining, and it cannot be diminished. Look up in prayer. Look into His Word. Ask Him to shine the Light of His Truth into your heart and mind.
Consider – Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.
