What Is Life?

Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Religious systems, false prophets, and the devil offer nothing but death.  These do all they can to steal, destroy, and kill any possibility for any one to find true life.  It is unfortunate that true, born again believers in the Lord Jesus get lumped together with all that is called “Christian.”  So much of what the world refers to as Christian is anything but.  The devil offers nothing but religious systems of death.

The Good Shepherd is a LIFE Giver.  The primary purpose of Him leaving Heaven and coming to earth, was to give His life for the sheep—so that we might have life everlasting.  And He wants us to enjoy the life He gives to us—abundantly.

Often when we think of an abundant life, our minds may wander over into the material things of this world.  When Jesus used the word “abundantly,”  He was looking beyond material prosperity.  He was speaking of not only knowing Him personally, but in experiencing the joyful spiritual blessing that are available to us.  Jesus was not referring to having so much more material things in this life,  but He is desirous that we possess and know what true life is.  Getting to know Him by being born again is just a start.  He wants us to grow in the infinite knowledge of Him, personally.

Lu 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Abundant life is not necessarily a long life.  It isn’t necessarily an easy, comfortable life.  But it is a life of satisfaction and contentment in Jesus—and so much more!  It is a life that has been delivered from condemnation and death—and so much more!  It is a FOREVER LIFE that lives with love, joy, peace, power, and freedom.  It is a secure life.

And it is one that may be enjoyed now, abundantly so.  Its spiritual principles can never be breeched by the world of death and destruction.

Consider – The greatest of all riches is not desiring them.
