[Lighthouse Daily Devotion] He Is

He Is

Mt 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Perhaps the greatest words this world has ever heard are found in this passage. He is risen, as He said. Jesus Christ had been crucified on the cross of Calvary and three days later fulfilled His promise that He would rise again.

Many modern translations have changed the phrase “he is risen” to “he has risen.”  The present tense of the word is extremely important here.  Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:20,  “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”

Yes, this event took place at a previous point in history.  The Bible says in Acts 17:31, “Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”

The great I Am, in this very moment, IS risen.

He IS the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending.  He IS in complete existence in the present tense and is not bound by the time, space, or matter He created.  He IS the God of the universe that IS alive and well.

How amazing it is to serve a God that not just rose from the dead in a past historical sense, but He is alive and seated at the right hand of the throne of God, making intercession for us!

Praise the Lord – He is Risen!

Consider—We need to serve WITH Jesus, not merely FOR Him.
