He Is The Rock

De 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Today in my daily Bible reading, as I started going through Deuteronomy thirty-two, I came across the phrase in verse four, “He is the Rock.” It took me back to the day in my Theology class that before the professor could start, one of my classmates blurted out a question. He wanted to settle an argument with a fellow student about a topic that came up at the end of the last class period. Pointing at his classmate he blurted out, “He said that Christ appeared as a rock, is that true?”
That day, Dr. Gillming changed his lesson plan and slipped into preaching mode. He had us turn to I Corinthians 10:4. The lecture turned into a sermon and the title was clear; it was, “And That Rock Was Christ!”
After that class there could have been no doubt about the Deity of Christ as the pre-existent Son of God. With eloquence and passion, he quoted Scripture after Scripture that elevated the Saviour to His rightful position. There were no more questions that day from a classroom full of freshmen. We knew Who the Rock was.
1Co 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
In Deut 32:4, He is the Rock—the Rock in verse 15—and again in verse 18. In verse 31 it says, “For their rock is not as our Rock.” The capitalization leaves no doubt, there is a difference in their rock and our Rock.
In this life there are times when it seems there is no place to stand that is not sinking sand. People and churches seem to change on every wind of doctrine. Standards of right and wrong in our society are in constant flux, and we have now come to the point where a Supreme Court Justice of the United States cannot tell a Senate confirmation hearing committee what a woman is.
In times like these I am grateful and thankful to God that we have the Rock on which to stand!
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
Consider – As the Rock, God is faithful. He fulfills every promise He has ever made. He does no wrong. He is upright and just.
