Christian Mind #3 – Ready Mind

The word “ready” means to be in a suitable state for an activity or action.  Psalm 11:2 gives us a great use of the word “ready” in the analogy of a bow and arrow.

Ps 11:2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

We as God’s children are to be ready.

1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

The Lord has done great things for us; therefore, we should always be ready to give an answer to someone who may ask us of the reason of the hope that is in us. He has given us His perfect Word, and we are to use it as a guide to prepare and make ready.

In Acts 17, Paul was preaching in Thessalonica out of the Scriptures (vs 2) that Jesus is Christ. Paul and Silas then go to Berea, and verse 11 says this about them:  Ac 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

In order to be fully equipped to live in this life, we must be heavily in God’s Word. Our Bible is the mind of Christ  1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

We should be reading, memorizing, and resting in the promises of His Word. We must take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, to have a ready mind to follow Him.

This world is lost and dying and is in need of godly Christians to be ready to give an answer of the hope that we have so that they too can have a personal relationship with the Saviour.

Consider – One who is of a ready mind has already submitted to the Lord, thus is studied up,  prayed up, and ready to act when it is time.
