2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
I was listening to Pandora the other day and heard a song I hadn’t heard in several years. It is called “Excuses” by the Kingsman. You need to listen to it if you haven’t heard of it. It talks about the excuses people use to explain why they don’t go to church or serve the Lord.
Here is the first line:
Excuses, excuses, you'll hear them every day.
And the Devil he'll supply them if the church you stay away.
When people come to know the Lord, the Devil always loses
So, to keep them folks away from church, he offers them excuses
People usually give excuses to justify why they didn't do something they know they should or don’t want to do. The Bible has a response for every excuse mankind can offer. Below are several excuses people use to avoid serving God, attending church, or accepting the free gift of salvation. Beside each excuse is an answer from the Word of God.
1. I can’t live for him.
Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
2. I can't soul win because I don't know what to say.
Ex 4:11-12 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
3. I don’t need to go to church; it is not essential.
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
4. I will trust in Christ tomorrow.
2Co 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
Consider – Today, instead of giving God an excuse for why you won't, say I will.
