[Lighthouse Daily Devotion] Hallow HIS Name

Hallow HIS Name

Lu 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

Strong’s has the word “hallow” to mean—“to make holy, i.e. (ceremonially) purify or consecrate; (mentally) to venerate:—hallow, be holy, sanctify.”

The Father’s name is JEHOVAH. It is a highly hallowed name. The name JESUS is of Hebrew origin, and it basically means, Jehovah Saves.

  • Ps 83:18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

  • Php 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

So, this “een” (evening) remember Who is hallowed—Jehovah Jesus. We don’t make Him hallowed, but He IS very much all holiness, anyway language can describe Him as such. Our part is to venerate and esteem His Holy Name—and to not be distracted by the devils in reveling with them on this particular day.

Hallow-een honors Satan’s kingdom. It is anti-God, anti-Christ, and anti-Light. It honors darkness, fear, and demonic powers. Its history is wicked and dark.

All histories of Halloween inevitably wind back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. (Skal, David J., Death Makes a Holiday: The Cultural History of Halloween, p. 20)

Halloween had its origins in the festival of Samhain among the Celts of ancient Britain and Ireland. (Encyclopedia Britannica 2005 "Halloween")

The rituals of the Druids reek from the deepest hell. Their most repulsive activities involve their human sacrifices of children on the night of Samhain or Halloween. They would drink their victim’s blood and eat their flesh. First-born sacrifices are mentioned in a poem in the Dindshenchas, which records that children were sacrificed each Samhain. (Rogers, Nicholas. Halloween: From Pagan Ritual to Party Night, p. 17)  (National Geographic. May 1977, pp. 625-626)

While you may use this evening for evangelism, remember the poor, naive children who come to your door are most certainly victims of Satan’s world-order. Be sure to speak a word for Jehovah-Jesus.

Consider – Ours is a wrestling match with these evil devils, not a social party of fellowshipping with them.

  • Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

  • 2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
