Fruit of Righteousness

Heb 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
The Bible uses the word “fruit” over 250 times throughout Scripture. Fruit is the result of seed that has previously been planted. In Hebrews 12:11, the phrase “peaceable fruit of righteousness” is used. Another similar verse is found in James 3:18 “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.“
I believe these two passages teach us that peace is the result of righteousness. The Bible tells us in the Book of Revelation that Jesus Christ in righteousness “doth judge and make war,” yet in Isaiah, “He is the prince of peace.”
Many mistake peace for ease and comfort when, in reality, peace is the result of righteousness. So often, the right thing will not be easy or comfortable, but the result will be peace. If we want peace in our homes, churches, and communities, we need godly men and women to make a stand for righteousness.
The world is longing for peace, and it’s time for God’s people to make a stand with a sincere desire, hunger, and thirst for righteousness, and the result will be peace.
Mt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Consider – Look to the result of chastening more than the process of chastening.
