Throughout the Old Testament, the phrase “daughter of Zion” is used to refer to God‘s relationship with His chosen people Israel. In Isaiah 62:11, the declaration is made “Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.”

Not only did Israel need deliverance from enemies, but also they needed spiritual deliverance from sin. The Hebrew people were sometimes faithful to the Lord and His Word, but sometimes they strayed from Him. Yet, many diligently looked for this promised salvation.

God fulfilled His promise for spiritual deliverance from sin in the person and work of His Son, Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus Christ, all people can have a relationship with the Holy One of Israel, God, as our Father.

As a daughter of the King, we have a Father Who loves us, and after salvation, He calls on us to live for Him. We are no longer our own and have been bought a price.

I Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us that we are not our own.

  • 1Co 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Do we strive daily to honor our Heavenly Father? How is our relationship with our Heavenly Father? Do we talk to Him daily in prayer?

Let’s strive today to live as honorable daughters of our King.
