Ro 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, The Bible speaks much about separation and holiness. We are commanded to be separate from the world and sin.
2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
In our text verse, the apostle Paul is speaking of being separated unto the gospel of God. If we just separate FROM something, we become legalistic, self-righteous, and pharisaical. On the contrary, when we are separated UNTO the gospel, we are looking to Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith.
A lost person can separate from things and live a clean outward life. However, only through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our lives can we be separated unto Christ and live a Spirit-filled life.
Living a Christian life is not one full of do’s and don’ts alone. It is not only a life of being separated from all of the wickedness of this world. It is a life of victory and peace because of the One Who loved us and gave His life for us.
We are separated unto Christ, and because of this, we are more than conquerors in Him.
Ro 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Consider – Marriage vows used to include, “Forsaking all others, I cling only to thee.” That’s separation from and unto.
