A Little Further

Mt 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus was praying to the Father. The Bible tells us that He went a little further, fell on His face, and prayed. If we look at the Gospel of Luke 10:35, the Scripture says,

  • Lu 10:35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Here, the Good Samaritan took care of this man, left monetary funds to continue care, and even promised to cover anything more that was needed when he returned.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus was preaching and said in Matthew 5:41, And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

These examples teach us that we should have the desire and drive to go a little further in our walk with the Lord. We should be willing to give our Master more than just the basic necessities. The Bible tells us that when someone needs us to walk a mile that we should be willing to go two miles.

Our families, churches, and communities are in need of Spirit-filled Christians who are willing to go above and beyond to serve our Saviour. Settling for mediocre should not be the desire of a child of God. Our desire should be to know Him more intimately, to go a little further in seeking His face, and to commune with Him in prayer and Bible study.

Consider: May we never settle for less, and may we always strive to know Him more, and may we walk humbly with our Saviour.

Did You Know?  Women blink nearly twice as much as men!!
