Ps 70:5 But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.

I read where fisherman living in the Brittany peninsula of France would often say this prayer as they set out to sea: “Keep us, our God; for your ocean is so wide and our boat is so small.”

How beautiful and true are those words, and they are true in every walk of life. We are so weak, so helpless, and many times we are forgetful of God’s loving kindness as we travel the sea of life. At times the challenges and difficulties of life threaten to overwhelm us. We sense our weaknesses and inability to overcome them.

When God’s children call on the Lord and cast themselves on Him in simple trust, they can depend on Him and His great power and wisdom to carry them through the storms of life.

Yes, in our “small boats,” on a “wide ocean,” we can trust our God to protect us—even in the worst of storms.

Thought: God is no security against the storms of life; but He is perfect security in the storms of life.

Did You Know? Yo-Yos were once used as weapons in the Philippines.
