The Best Three Months Ever

1 Chronicles 13:14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that he had.
David had a desire to bring the ark of the LORD out from the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah to Jerusalem. The Scriptures record that instead of the Levites carrying the ark, they placed it on a new cart while Uzzah and Ahio, and the sons of Abinadab accompanied it.
Journeying up to Jerusalem, David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments. When the ark came to the threshing floor of Nachon, the cattle that pulled the cart stumbled and Uzzah put forth his hand to steady the ark so it would not fall off.
2 Samuel 6:7 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.
Afraid of the LORD at this point, David decided to carry the ark into the house of Obededom. There the ark remained for three months—the greatest three months of Obededom’s life! The LORD blessed all that he had!
Concerning God’s blessing, Scripture says: “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22). Spiritual blessings make a person rich in the right way, and joyful too.
Perhaps the reason for Obededom’s being so blessed was due to his fear of the Lord. He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great (Psalm 115:13). Do you live in the fear of the Lord?
The greatest blessing a man can experience is to have his sins forgiven and to gain eternal life. And, God says if He has given us salvation through Christ, shall he not with him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32).
Reflection—In Christ, believers are blessed now and forever and ever!
