Worship

Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
What is before us in this Psalm is worship of Him Who owns the earth, as well as everything and everybody in it. It tells us Whom we should worship.
The Hebrew verb “to worship” means literally “to bow down, to prostrate oneself.” It reflects both the attitude and position of the worshipper. To worship is to submit. It is a heart that is humbled in the presence of the Almighty.
Is it necessary to be prostrate to worship the Lord? Some of us are limited physically, and others find it difficult to get up after being down! The main requirement of worship is in the heart. The heart must be bowed low in submission.
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
When we come to worship the Lord Jesus Christ, our hearts need to be prepared to bow down and be humbled before Him. We surely enjoy the fellowship of the saints, and faithful believers encourage us. But worship is focused on the Lord, not one another.
The goal of worship is to invite the Lord to be in our midst. We need HIM—His love, mercy, grace, and all else that He is. Our hearts will be satisfied with nothing less.
So, we know Whom to worship. Another question is, Who may worship Him?
Jesus gave us the answer—John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Reflection—The Father is seeking. Is He finding you?
