Willing To Be Spent

2 Corinthians 12:15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.
The motivator behind the majority of those that are trying to be successful in this world is what they can gain from others. A Christian’s motivation in serving is so others can receive the gain of being enriched in Christ. Every born-again believer no matter what their vocation may be, has a ministry of serving others in the name of Lord. If we serve others with the idea that we are always going to receive an applause, a hand clap, or even a thank you, then we will be disappointed.
Our joy cannot be in man’s praise and thank you. Our joy must be in knowing we did what God wanted us to do.
Paul the Apostle learned that people don’t always love you back when you have loved them and served them. He was willing to spend and be spent—to win others to Christ, comfort the afflicted, encourage the down-hearted, lift the fallen, and rebuild the lives of those that have been torn apart.
What he found was that the more he loved, the less he was loved, and the less he was appreciated. But it never stopped him from his ministry of serving others because the gain was for them and the glory of God.
Jesus was very glad to spend and be spent for the souls of man, even though many hated Him, persecuted Him… and even crucified Him.
Reflection—The law of helps is the law of sacrifice.
