Where Are You Known?

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Perhaps you are better known in this world than some. But for most of us, nobody knows our name at the White House or in the halls of Congress.

It doesn’t matter, because if you are saved by the Grace of God, you are known in the highest location in the universe. Heaven is where God has His headquarters. God the Father knows you (John 6:37). God the Son knows you (John 10:14). And the Holy Spirit Who indwells you, knows you pretty well!

Besides the emotional and relationship benefit of belonging to the Lord, there are wonderful advantages in being known in Heaven while living on earth. In Hebrews 4:15-16, the Bible tells us that the Lord Jesus is our “Great High Priest.” He is there interceding for His “known ones.” And we have freedom of access to approach His Throne to obtain mercy and find grace to help in our time of need. The reason you can go with confidence to the Throne Room is because you are known.

These truths should motivate us to come often and continually to this gracious Throne, especially since every single day is a time of need!

You may not be known by the leaders, celebrities, and people of this world, and it’s probably for the better! But rest assured, it’s different in Heaven. Your name is recorded in the Lamb’s Book of Life. You are a citizen there. You are no alien stranger there. The saints know you. The angels, cherubim, and seraphim know you. And the Triune Eternal Almighty God does not just know who you are—but He KNOWS you!

Reflection—Being known in Heaven shows itself on earth in the desire and actions of departing from iniquity.
