Till There Was No Remedy

2 Chronicles 36:15-16 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: 16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
II Chronicles comes to a sad end with the final destruction of Jerusalem and the beginning of the seventy-year captivity of the last two surviving tribes, Judah and Benjamin. They had rejected every opportunity God had given them to repent and return to live by His clear commands. They had repeatedly broken their covenant with God, and the judgment the prophets spoke of had come. Now they faced a long captivity before any of them would ever see their homeland again.
In the past, similar judgments had passed down from God to other nations, but Israel ignored the pattern. God judged Sodom and Gomorah for the sin of homosexuality. God judged the Amorites and Moabites that worshipped Baal with infant sacrifices. God had brought judgment to the northern ten tribes for that same sin and for turning from the God of their fathers.
Make no mistake—God will judge nations for their sins.
My country, America, was founded on Biblical principles, by men who knew God’s Word and were by in large, believers. Now my country gives homosexuals privileged status, kills babies by the million through abortion, and has forsaken the God of our fathers.
Without repentance and revival, I fear the judgment of God may soon fall on us as a nation. In the past, God judged our national sin of slavery. Judgment of our new national sin is coming.
Reflection—Oh Lord, turn America back to you again, make America yours again!
