Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
The world’s definition of many things has changed to the point that what used to be good is now bad, what used to be immoral is now moral and what used to be absolute is now questionable. It is said that an empty mind is the devil’s workshop, and we know that he likes to plant thoughts in our heads if we allow him to.
Of course, the believer’s mind is not in submission to the enemy unless the door is opened by the believer (Romans 6:12,16.) When we see something that intrigues our flesh, then our thoughts may go awry if we permit it.
God has given us an absolute solution to this problem that works. When we flood our minds with the things listed in today’s text it will wash our minds of the corruption that has been filed away in our hard drive. Sin will become more sinful, and the Light of God’s Word will reveal those hidden ambushes the devil has placed for us.
Reflection—So the next time your mind begins to wander off into the dark, bring it back and “think on these things.”
