The Results of Rejecting God’s Revelation – Part 1

Romans 1:18-20 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men…; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen… even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Recently, I spoke to a group of teens. The Lord led me to an old outline from another preacher that would help the teenagers to understand they are facing a battle for their minds, namely, which world view will you choose to base your life? It will be the Biblical or it will be the secular, there is no other choice.
We live in a world that is drowning in information while starving for the truth. I have found that young people instinctively know they are being lied to but are hungry for the truth. They will take the truth, strong truth, when it is told to them with love.
When God is rejected, there will be consequences. In Romans, Paul started with the negatives, pointing out that the conditions of the world seen around them confirm the truth of what happens when you reject God.
That rejection starts with the wrath of God being revealed in verse 18. It produced a moral collapse with an emphasis on sinful lifestyles. When God’s Revelation is rejected, morality becomes relative in the same verse.
In verses 19-20, rejection leads to a downward spiral leading to destruction.
The witness of God is “manifest in them” (conscience) and in the creation they can see, but Christ can only be revealed by the Scriptures, God’s Revelation to man.
Reflection—Graciously, there is time to repent and believe. God is still drawing us to Himself.
