The Real Problem

Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Recently, I was talking to a preacher friend about the ministry and needs that arise. In our conversation, he made the statement that money is not the solution because it never was the problem.

How true of a statement that is! The Lord does not need us to raise funds and solicit donations for His ministry. God provides according to His will on His timeline. The Bible says in Psalm 50:10-11, “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. [11] I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.”

The prayer request that Jesus gave was to pray for labourers. The instructions were not to pray because the harvest is great and the dollars are few. He said to pray for labourers. He owns the cattle and the pasture. Our Savior is looking for willing servants to submit to the commands of His Word and to embrace the ministry of reconciliation that we have been given as the ambassadors of Christ.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Reflection—The Lord is merciful and generous… He’s looking for labourers to work in His fields and He will provide.
