The Master’s Hand

Psalm 123:2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
When you are working for someone, you watch the clock, and you watch the boss. You are sure to be working when he is watching you. How many of us live and work as though God is looking at us all the time? Well, He is. We are always under His eye.
The eyes of a servant are to his master’s directing hand, expecting that he will appoint him his work. The servant must also look to his master’s supplying hand. Servants look to their master for their portion of meat in due season. And to God we must look for daily bread and for grace sufficient. From Him we must receive it thankfully. Where can we look for help but to our Master?
The master’s hand is also the correcting hand, when the servant goes astray or does the work incorrectly the master will step in and correct or chastise the servant for his own good and for the good of the work.
Lastly the master’s hand is also the rewarding hand. When the night has come and the work is done, the servant will hear the master say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”
Do not expect anything but scorn, ridicule, and contempt from this world. Do not complain if you are treated as God’s Son was treated – soon you will be in the presence of the Master.
Reflection – Worship while you watch and wait.
