The Gospel Brings Election

1 Thessalonians 1:4-5 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. 5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
The Bible surely teaches election. It is a doctrine that has confused a lot of believers, as well as misled a lot. It is not a teaching for you to fear. Just take the Bible for what it says.
Two things are stated in verse 4 above.
1) You can know that you are loved as a beloved believer.
2) You (and others) can know that you are elected.
How is it that you can know of your election? Verse 5 immediately follows up with a reference to the Gospel. The word “for” indicates how it is that Paul knew of the Thessalonians election. It came through the Gospel that was preached and received among them in the power of the Holy Ghost. It was this Gospel that they received in verse 6.
So, election is connected to the Gospel, and it is personally obtained by receiving the Gospel.
Isaiah refers to the coming Messiah of Israel as the “elect” of the Father. In Ephesians Paul refers to believers being chosen “in Him” (the Lord Jesus). Everyone who savingly believes in the Lord Jesus and the Gospel is placed “in Him” by the Holy Spirit. And since He is the Father’s elect, everyone who is in Him is also elect.
Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Reflection—You believer, who has received the Gospel, enjoy being loved and elected.
