Job 20:15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
Everywhere we look we are bombarded by societal pressures, advertisements, and marketing for opportunities to get rich. While wealth in itself can be a wonderful blessing when yielded and surrendered to the Lord, more often than not wealth causes tremendous problems. The Apostle Paul in the New Testament warns that the love of money causes some to covet and depart from the faith.
Job 20:15 speaks of a wicked hypocrite. The very thing that this world so strongly pushes is the very thing that makes so many sick. I’ve heard many stories of families that were divided and spiritually destroyed over riches.
Proverbs 11:4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
As a Christian, our focus should be on Jesus Christ and His righteousness. Just a few verses later, Proverbs warns us in verse twenty-eight, “He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.”
As God’s children, we should walk in the light of the Lord Jesus Christ looking unto Him as the vine. We are just branches who receive all of our resources from the vine. Without the vine we can do nothing. When Jesus Christ the Vine provides riches and wealth, these blessings are to be used to honor Him and His righteousness and are not to be consumed in greedful lust.
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Reflection—God’s greatest blessings are heavenly and spiritual.
