Preparation

Amos 4:12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
At the time of writing this devotion, our country is in the midst of a major snow storm. Pictures are being shared all across news and social media sites of empty shelves at the grocery stores, long lines at fuel stations, and emergency response teams in place. With the desire for survival, people are making preparations for this storm.
Unfortunately, the same attention is not given to eternal preparation. We are not promised tomorrow or another breath. Our society is fast asleep in a satanic lullaby of comfort and religion. God’s Word tells us of a man who had great riches and was set for retirement.
The verse reads—Luke 12:19-21 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Soon, we will all stand before a just God and give an account for our souls. Only the Blood of Jesus Christ and His righteousness is acceptable as the payment for our sin debt.
More so than preparing for the temporal, may we prepare today for eternity by placing our complete faith and trust in the One who gave His life for us.
2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
